Physical changes to the pelvis can lead to lower back pain. A common cause for this (for males) is the wallet in the back pocket. In particular, sitting on the wallet.
Size doesn’t really matter.
It doesn’t really matter if your wallet is chock-a-block full of credit cards, cash and old receipts, or whether it’s thin, with minimal contents. Sitting on your wallet will cause an uneven stress on your pelvis, leading to soft tissue changes in the supportive structures. This will cause an imbalance in your pelvis that may lead to lower back pain.
The simple solution… Don’t have your wallet in your back pocket if you’re sitting. When driving, keep it on the dashboard or console. Keep it with your phone and key when at your desk (so you don’t forget them)
If you do experience low back issues, and you have a history of sitting on your wallet, get checked out by your chiropractor. They will assess any imbalance or weakness in the lower back and pelvis.
